Our Mission Statement
Through trust in God and belief in the commission of Christ, we must weigh the things we do and how they help us strengthen our mission and feed those in the field. We aim to reach those searching to know God and to plant the seeds that God can use for His will. With the Lord’s help we will strengthen our presence and raise our profile in our community by reaching out to those that are lost and hurting. By drawing closer to God and loving one another, we proclaim Christ to the community. Sundy School September-May

WE WELCOME OUR NEW PASTOR
Pastor Key is originally from South Korea and moved to the United States in 1998. He completed his studies at Asbury Seminary in 2023 and was ordained in the Global Methodist Church that same year. His ministry experience includes over nine years in the Church of the Nazarene, more than six years in the United Methodist Church, and he is currently serving in the Global Methodist Church. While he was born and raised in the Wesleyan tradition, he has come to believe that, for the sake of fulfilling the Lord’s mission of saving souls, it is important to understand how different denominations express and practice their faith. Only then can we truly understand and embrace people from all backgrounds. Along this journey, a PC(USA) pastor whom he trusts and respects graciously offered him a valuable opportunity, which led him to develop a deeper interest in and heart for the Presbyterian Church. He is also deeply thankful to God for the precious opportunity to serve at Blackwood, where he has grown in understanding and learning. Pastor Key and his wife, J (Jihye), will celebrate their twelfth wedding anniversary in 2026, and they are blessed with four children: Sarang (Joanna), Somang (Yohan), Ahreum (Urielle), and Mideum (Elijah). A treasured Scripture for him is Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” He strives to live out what he preaches, seeking to remain connected to Christ throughout every hour of the day. |
