We may be a smaller church, but we are active and alive in the Spirit. Board of Elders, Deacons, Trustees, Sunday School, Youth Group, Children’s Church, Women of the Word (WoWs), Prayer Chain, Bible Study and Food Pantry are just some of the opportunities for sharing the love of God with others through The First Presbyterian Church of Blackwood. There is something for everyone to get involved and serve the Lord.
An elder in Christianity is a person who is valued for wisdom and holds a position of responsibility and/or authority in a Christian group. An elder serves the local church and has been ordained to a ministry of word, sacrament and order, filling the preaching and pastoral offices.

Effective trustees function as Christian stewards of property God has entrusted to the congregation. This includes supervising and maintaining both the physical property of the congregation and gifts made to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and all legal requirements related to the property are satisfied.

From the second Sunday in September through the month of May, we offer Sunday School classes to children two years old to grade six, and a Youth Group for seventh through twelfth grade students. We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45-10:45. Our goal is to teach children about God’s love for them through Jesus Christ, and help them to grow in their faith walk with Him.
