Share the love of God

We may be a smaller church, but we are active and alive in the Spirit.  Board of Elders, Deacons, Trustees, Sunday School, Youth Group, Children’s Church, Women of the Word (WoWs), Prayer Chain, Bible Study, Food Pantry and Camden Outreach are just some of the opportunities for sharing the love of God with others through The First Presbyterian Church of Blackwood.  There is something for everyone to get involved and serve the Lord.

Have any extra food at home?  Going shopping and they have a sale?  Well, bring something extra in on your trip to our church.  Canned Goods, Pasta, Non-Perishable foods are always welcome for the Deacon’s Pantry.  The Pantry is for those families that need help.  Thank you for your support.

An elder in Christianity is a person who is valued for wisdom and holds a position of responsibility and/or authority in a Christian group. An elder serves the local church and has been ordained to a ministry of word, sacrament and order, filling the preaching and pastoral offices.

Effective trustees function as Christian stewards of property God has entrusted to the congregation. This includes supervising and maintaining both the physical property of the congregation and gifts made to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and all legal requirements related to the property are satisfied.

Pastor Yousef is offering a weekly Bible Study every Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. starting on September 26.  Every follower of Jesus should attend a small group Bible study to deepen our understanding of His Word and take our faith to the next level.  This year, Rev. Yousef will be leading a study on Paul’s Letter to the Philippians, “Be Joyful:  Even When Things Go Wrong You Can Have Joy.”

Our church has an Adult Choir that sings every Sunday from September through May and offers two cantatas per year – at Christmas and Easter. A Cheering Choir, (for ages 3 through 6th grade) rehearses every Sunday morning at 9:45am, and a Bell Choir, a set of 3-octave tone chimes.  We would love to start the Tone Chimes Choir back up again. It’s very easy to learn.  No musical ability is required.

From the second Sunday in September through the month of May, we offer Sunday School classes to children two years old to grade six, and a Youth Group for seventh through twelfth grade students.  We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30-10:30.  Our goal is to teach children about God’s love for them through Jesus Christ, and help them to grow in their faith walk with Him.

The Youth Group participates in many activities throughout the year! We have fun monthly activities, such as a hay ride at Springdale Farms, Christmas party,  movie night, and a Family Fun Night that features games, snacks and an outdoor movie, and more.
